The Division of Housing and Property Maintenance is responsible for the safety, health and fire protection for Morristown residents and businesses. This includes:

  • Overcrowding of resident units
  • Structural deterioration
  • Lack of maintenance
  • Infestation
  • Lack of essential heat
  • Existence of fire hazards
  • Unsanitary conditions
  • Trash litter and debris
  • Other menaces to the health, safety and welfare and reasonable comfort of the residents and visitors

The owner of any residential building or unit, single or multiple, that is either sold or has a new occupant must receive a Certificate of habitability before the change. For more information(including fees), call Property Maintenance at 973-292-6700.
